Author Guidelines

Scope

AJDIS publishes scholarly work that contributes to the understanding of development, innovation, and social transformation across Asia. We welcome:

  • Original Research Articles: Empirical research based on quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods.
    Example: A panel data study on digital finance adoption in ASEAN.

  • Review Papers: Critical overviews of research trends, gaps, and future directions.
    Example: Literature review on renewable energy innovation in South Asia.

  • Conceptual Papers: Theoretical or model-building contributions.
    Example: A framework for inclusive urban development in emerging economies.

  • Policy Analyses: Evaluation of policies and their implications.
    Example: An analysis of education policy reform in Laos.

  • Case Studies: In-depth investigations of specific events or programs.
    Example: Case study of microcredit implementation in rural Cambodia.


Language

All submissions must be written in clear, academic English. Authors are encouraged to proofread manuscripts or use language editing services before submission.


Formatting Requirements

Please format your manuscript as follows:

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt

  • Line Spacing: 1.5

  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides

  • Paragraphs: First-line indent of 0.5 inch

  • File Format: Submit in .doc or .docx only (no PDFs)


Manuscript Structure

  1. Title Page (submitted separately):

    • Title of the manuscript

    • Full names of all authors

    • Institutional affiliations and country

    • Email of corresponding author

    • ORCID iD (if available)

    Example:

    • Title: Digital Inclusion and Social Equity in Southeast Asia

    • Authors: Dr. Khampheng Inthavong (National University of Laos, Laos), Dr. Sita Wong (Mahidol University, Thailand)

    • Corresponding author email: inthavong.khampheng@nuol.edu.la

  2. Main Manuscript (anonymous):

    • Title (repeated, without author information)

    • Abstract (150–250 words)

    • Keywords (3–6)

    • Main sections:

      • Introduction

      • Literature Review

      • Methodology

      • Results

      • Discussion

      • Conclusion

    • References (APA 7th edition)

    • Tables and Figures (embedded or placed after references)

    • Appendices (if applicable)


Headings and Subheadings

Follow APA 7th Edition guidelines for heading levels:

  • Level 1 (Centered, Bold Title Case)

  • Level 2 (Left-Aligned, Bold Title Case)

  • Level 3 (Left-Aligned, Bold Italic Title Case)

  • Level 4 (Indented, Bold Title Case, Ending with a Period). Text follows.

  • Level 5 (Indented, Bold Italic Title Case, Ending with a Period). Text follows.


Tables and Figures

  • Embed close to where first cited in the text or at the end of the manuscript

  • Tables: Caption above the table

    Example: Table 1. Descriptive Statistics of Survey Data

  • Figures: Caption below the figure

    Example: Figure 2. Trends in GDP Growth, 2000–2020

  • Number all tables and figures sequentially

  • Ensure labels, axes, and legends are legible

  • Provide source notes if data or images are reused

    Example: Source: World Bank (2021)


In-text Citations and References

Use APA 7th Edition for all citations and references.

In-text citation examples:

  • Paraphrased: (Srithilat, 2022)

  • Quoted: (Srithilat, 2022, p. 15)

  • 3+ authors: (Wang et al., 2021)

  • Journal article:

Ethical Standards

All submissions must meet ethical standards. Authors must:

  • Obtain ethics approval for research involving human participants

    Example: “This study was approved by the University Ethics Committee of NUOL.”

  • Ensure all authors have contributed and approved the final version

  • Confirm the manuscript is not under review elsewhere

  • Disclose any conflicts of interest and funding sources

    Example: “This research was funded by the ASEAN Research Grant. No conflicts of interest declared.”

Submission Preparation Checklist

Before submitting to AJDIS, authors must ensure the following:

  • The manuscript fits the journal’s aims and scope

  • Title page and anonymized manuscript are prepared as separate files

  • The abstract is 150–250 words and includes 3–6 keywords

  • APA 7th Edition formatting is applied throughout

  • Tables and figures are numbered and captioned correctly

  • References are complete and match in-text citations

  • All authors have approved the submission

  • Any necessary ethical approvals are clearly stated

  • Third-party materials (e.g., images, data) have permission for reuse

  • Manuscript has been proofread and checked for plagiarism
